The 2016 Quiz Olympiad had 12 Specialist Subject quizzes - 6 x High Brow (HB) and 6 x Populist (P). Players could only take part in a maximum of 6 subjects.

The quizzes are in two halves, each of 25 questions.

This quiz includes animal kingdom, plants, trees, fungi, bacteria, the cycle of life, animal behaviour, and extinct creatures, but does not include biology, biochemistry, national parks, or physical geography.
